What a great Christmas Party we had! Our Guest of Honour this year was Judith Armstrong who helped us enormously with our planning permission for a brand new club-house with its new classroom facility and tack room, more details of which will follow soon.
Everyone dressed up, even the ponies and the indoor school kept us warm and sparkled with festive lighting and Christmas Decorations including a magnificent Christmas Tree kindly donated by Frosts Willington.
A marvellous time was had by all including the children from the Special Schools who attend BDHRA, namely Grange Academy, St John`s School and Ivel Valley School, as well as the children from Sheerhatch Primary School.
Festivities began with a traditional nativity play on horseback followed by party games and then Father Christmas arrived and rode around the indoor school sending his message of joy and giving all the children who attend The Centre a present whilst Mrs Armstrong presented each child with a rosette.
The day raised the phenomenal amount of £8,373. Grateful thanks must go to former John O`Gaunt Golf Club Captain Mike Tipper whose Captain`s Golf Day was a huge success raising the massive sum of £5,665. We were very pleased to receive a cheque from Mike at the Party. Mike is the husband of Diane, one of our BDHRA volunteers. t
Thank you also to the Kilroy Family for their ongoing support and also to Mervyn Askew and Nick Eagle who continue to support us as they remember their mothers` Lily Askew and Edna Eagle who were both volunteers.
There are so many generations of families who support us in this way and we feel honour because fundamentally we are a local charity supporting local people.
Happy Christmas everyone
